HuMan FOOT: My Journey to Creating This Workshop
By Anton Ghys
For years, I’ve been fascinated by how the smallest details shape the way we move. Of all the structures I’ve studied, the foot stands out as both the most underestimated and the most essential. It’s where every step begins. It’s where stability is born. And it’s where so many of our injuries and inefficiencies can be traced back.
That’s why HuMan FOOT was created — an intensive two-day workshop designed for physiotherapists, podiatrists, coaches, trainers, and movement professionals who want to go far deeper than the surface. This course isn’t just about the foot. It’s about reframing the way we look at the human body — starting from its foundation.
Why the Foot? Why Now?
The foot is a marvel of human evolution: 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than a hundred muscles, tendons, and ligaments — all working to stabilize, absorb force, and sense the world beneath us. Yet, in modern movement and rehabilitation, it’s often overlooked.
Through my work as a physiotherapist and movement educator, I saw a recurring theme: people with recurrent injuries, unexplained movement compensations, or postural issues often had untreated foot dysfunction. Even in high-level sports, the foot’s sensory role — its ability to communicate with the brain and the rest of the body — was rarely addressed.
HuMan FOOT emerged from this realization. I wanted to give professionals a clear, evidence-informed way to analyze, restore, and optimize foot function — and, by extension, the entire kinetic chain.
Inside the Workshop: What You’ll Experience
HuMan FOOT blends theory and practice. You’ll explore not only how the foot moves, but how it feels — its role as a sensory organ and its constant dialogue with the nervous system. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ll cover:
Functional Testing & Postural Analysis
Learn to read the foot as the starting point of stability, efficiency, and injury prevention.Anatomy & Neurology
Discover the fascial connections, sensory integration, and brain–foot communication pathways that underpin every movement.Natural Movement & Barefoot Principles
Understand evolutionary context, terrain variability, and how to safely reintroduce natural foot use.Corrective & Re-education Strategies
Practice specific drills to build intrinsic foot strength, improve foot–core coordination, and re-pattern movement for long-term benefits.
Every session combines hands-on assessment, guided dialogue, and practical exercises — so you leave with tools you can apply immediately in your own practice.
The Content Journey
Here’s the full outline of our two days together:
Learning & the Brain — why curiosity and safety form the basis of skill acquisition.
The Foot as the Keystone — reframing stability, efficiency, and injury prevention.
The Foot in Natural Movement — from primal locomotion to modern-day adaptation.
HuMan Foot Anatomy — structural mapping and palpation skills.
Neurology & Sensory Integration — foot-brain communication and postural control.
Fascial & Kinetic Chain Connections — how restrictions ripple upward through the body.
Postural Assessment & Functional Testing — static and dynamic foot–ground analysis.
Common Foot Dysfunctions & Systemic Impact — real case examples.
Corrective Exercise & Movement Re-patterning — restoring the foot as a functional foundation.
Transitioning to Minimal Footwear — principles for a gradual, safe shift.
Conclusion & Continuing the Journey — integrating what you’ve learned into your practice.

Why This Is More Than a Course
My goal isn’t to teach you a series of techniques and send you home. HuMan FOOT is a journey — one that invites you to see the body differently, to question assumptions, and to integrate new ways of working with your clients and athletes.
When you leave this workshop, you won’t just know more about the foot. You’ll understand how to use it as a gateway to human movement, performance, and injury prevention. You’ll also gain a network of like-minded professionals who are rethinking movement from the ground up.
A Personal Invitation
If you’re a physiotherapist, trainer, coach, podiatrist, or movement professional looking for practical tools, a new lens on human movement, and a way to make lasting changes in your practice, I’d love to welcome you to HuMan FOOT. Together, we’ll explore, experiment, and build a deeper understanding of the human body — starting where it all begins: the foot.
